PIGEON:

The 'Pigeon' is a beautiful bird. Pigeons are domestic, stout-bodied birds. They have short necks and short slender bills with a fleshy beak. Pigeons eat seeds, cereals, lettuce, endive, chickweed, clover, watercress, berries, apple, pears, etc.

There are many kinds of pigeons. They live in nests and the nests are made of sticks. The nest of a pigeon is usually constructed on covered building ledges. Pigeons build their nest with small twigs. Many people keep them out of fancy. A person who keeps a pigeon is called a pigeon fancier. Some pigeons are trained to carry mails to the inaccessible places. 

SPARROW:

The 'Sparrow' (Passer domesticus) is a bird of the sparrow family Passeridae. Sparrows are small, plump, brown-grey birds with short tails and stubby, powerful beaks. The house sparrow is now a disappearing species. World Sparrow Day is celebrated to raise public awareness about the decline of the house sparrow.

'World Sparrow Day' is observed on 20th March every year through out the whole world. The first World Sparrow Day was celebrated on March 20, 2010 across the globe to celebrate the beauty of the house sparrow. On this day Sparrow supporters visit schools, colleges, or make presentations in their own workplaces as well as housing complexes. 

PARROT:

The 'parrot' is a very beautiful bird. Its feathers are green. It has a red beak. Its beak is curved. Round the neck of a parrot there are black rings. Overall it is a lovely looking bird. It eats grains, fruits, leaves seeds, pears, nuts, mangoes and boiled rice etc.

The Parrot is a talking bird. It can imitate the human voice. It is found in almost all the warm countries. It generally lives in the hollows of trees. Some people keep it in a small cage which is not good. Some people train parrots to do wonderful things. 

PEACOCK :

The 'Peacock' is a colourful, swan-sized bird, with a fan-shaped crest of feathers, a white patch under the eye and a long, slender neck. It is the national bird of India. It is found in many parts of India. It eats up harmful insects and therefore its a good friend of farmers. The peacock is male and the female peacock is called a peahen.

Peacock dance is a popular dance. A peacock dance done in a group is a fascinating sight. When a peacock dances, it spreads out its feathers like a fan which look very beautiful. Peacock's voice is not very sweet. Its feathers are used to make purses, jackets and many beautiful things.

Hunting of peacocks is banned in India. It is fully protected under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.  

LION:

The 'lion' is a wild animal. It has a strong body. It is four-legged. It has a large head. Its eyes have a glowing look. It has sharp teeth and strong claws. Its body is covered with greyish small and smooth hair.

The lion is called the king of the forest. It has a majestic appearance. The lion is not so cruel as a tiger. It eats flesh. It can run very fast. The roar of the lion is very famous. It roars very loudly. The lions are found in forests. Its paws are very strong. Its footprint's are known as pug-marks.
  

MY FAVOURITE ANIMAL : DOG

My favourite animal is the dog. The dog is a pet animal. It is a four-footed animal. It has two bright eyes. It has two ears, sharp teeth and a small tail. Dogs are of many kinds. Some dogs have fur on their bodies. The dogs are of different colours. They are of different sizes.

The dog is a very useful and a faithful animal. The dog can swim in the water. It is found everywhere in the world. It loves its master very much. It guards the house from thieves with care. The policemen use dogs in tracing out thieves and criminals.

TIGER :

The 'tiger' has a strong body which is brownish with black stripes on it. It has a long tail. Its padded feet have sharp claws. There are four teeth, two in the upper jaw and two in the lower, which are much larger and longer than the rest.

The tiger belongs to the cat family. It looks like a big cat. The tigers are generally found in the forests. It is fond of blood and flesh. It is a very cruel and ferocious wild animal.

In India, tiger-killing has been prohibited by the Government. We can find tigers in the zoo, or in the circus. 

ELEPHANT :

The 'elephant' is a very huge animal. It grows a height of about 10 feet. It is usually coarse dark in color. Its skin is too hard for any kind of thorns to penetrate. It has long trunk. It has two white tusks and two ears hanging like big fans. It has two small eyes and a broad body. It has a short tail and four legs. The elephant is usually found in forests.

An elephant is very useful to man. It is very intelligent and obedient. It can be trained and used for various purposes. Its trunk is very useful. It eats and drinks and lifts up thing with it. It carries heavy loads and guns for him. In olden time, elephants were used in war. 

DOG :

The 'dog' is a pet animal. It is a four-footed animal. It has two bright eyes. It has two ears, sharp teeth and a small tail. Dogs are of many kinds. Some dogs have fur on their bodies. The dogs are of different colours. They are of different sizes.

HORSE :

The 'horse' is a four-footed animal. Its legs are slender but strong enough to run few miles at a stretch without any break. The horse may be of different sizes and colours. They may be white, red, brown, grey, black or a mixture of such colours. The horse lives on grass, straw, grams and leaves of trees.

The horse is found in almost all the countries in the world. The horse is a very useful and faithful domestic animal. It is used for carrying men and load. In ancient days, when transport facilities were limited, the horses were used as vehicles for long journeys. It is used in war, circus, races, to draw carriages, and even in ploughing the field for cultivation.

The Arabian horses are famous for their beauty and superb service to mankind. 

COW:

The 'cow' is a very useful animal. It is a domestic animal. It is found all over the world. It gives us milk. Cow's milk is very useful for the children and patients. It is gentle by nature. The cow has a large body. It has four legs, two horns and a long tail. It has two ears.

In India, the people worship the cow. The cow is given "mother's" status in our religion. It is a pious animal. Cow dung also is a good fertilizer, which is generally used in cultivated fields for better growth of crops. After the cow dies, its skin is used in making shoes, bags, etc., and its bones are used in making buttons, combs, knife handles and similar other useful articles.

So the cow is a very useful animal to us.
